Sustainable Hospital Design.

Hey guys, ive just stumbled across some information about a hospital project in Calgary being heading by Neil Mackenzie of HOK Architectural design. The project is aiming for a Leed certification. The Project will involve a renovation of the Peter Lougheed Hospital. A number of different sustainable designs features are going to be incorportated into the such as using fly ash as aggregate ( for more information on using alternative materials for aggegrate in concrete check out Dave Denison's blog @ http://concreteasaggregate.blogspot.com/). For more information the renovation of the Peter Lougheed hospital check out these websites:

These websites should give a good idea about the concept of the hospital and what it plans to achieve.

Hey Bert,

My mom works at the Royal Inland Hospital here in town. If you want, I can get some contact information for you in terms of the recent renovations that were done to the RIH. You could find out if sustainable hospital design has influenced their renovations and if they came across any problems while renovations? It's just a thought, so let me know what you think.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA)put out a document titled: Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospital and Health Care Facilities. I think you should definately give it a try. It can be bought at: http://www.constructionbook.com/xq/ASP/ProductID.3459/id.454/qx/default2.htm. Seriously, this sounds like it could really help.
